Plymouth SEND Conference

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

The Plymouth SEND Conference is run by Plymouth Parent Carer Voice (PPCV) and is for parents, carers, professionals and anyone with an interest in SEND in Plymouth.

The SEND Conference 2024 is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 11 June 2024 at The University of Plymouth, Rolle Building, Drake Circus, Plymouth PL4 8AA.

PPCV invite local groups and companies to run a stand advertising the groups and activities that are available for children and young people with SEND. It is an opportunity to catch up with advisors and service providers for an informal discussion. There will presentations and workshops to join. A light lunch will also be included.

Miss the Previous SEND Conference?

If you missed the previous SEND Conference or Celebration Events, you can access recordings and presentations through the PPCV members portal. The members portal also contains presentations from PPCV regular Coffee and Cake meetings. To access, you will need to join PPCV, then register for access to the members portal using your unique membership number.

Previous Plymouth SEND Conference events have offered a wide range of stalls focusing on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Families have received help on a variety of subjects. Attendees were also able to choose talks and workshops relevant to their families and also speak to professionals. A light lunch was provided.

  • Education, Health and Care Plans (EHC Plans)
  • Annual Reviews
  • Dyslexia
  • ACCESS (the new route for service referral i.e. CDC, CAMHS, ASD pathway etc)
  • Parent Carer Participation – how to get involved and make a difference
  • Plymouth Autism Amplified Project
  • Child Adolescence Mental Health Service (CAMHS) – Secondary (Anxiety and development understanding and responding to anxiety in secondary aged children with autism)
  • Child Development Centre – Primary (Anxiety and development understanding and responding to anxiety in primary aged children with a developmental condition)
  • New Plymouth Free School for Autism

Parents were able to speak to the following professionals / services:

  • Plymouth Information, Advice & Support for SEND (PIAS)
  • Preparing for Adulthood Team
  • Plymouth City Council 0-25 Team
  • Careers South West
  • Short Breaks
  • Educational Psychologist
